Waypoint notes

  • Bottom gully (-42.99153, 171.16434): Traverse across a small scree to this point and ascend a steep gully to bypass the steep ridge.
  • CLIMB HERE (-42.98861, 171.15414): A reasonably clear route leads in a slight back line from here to the crest of the ridge.
  • POLE (-42.98831, 171.15568): Top of the clear route through the scrub band.
  • Start traversing (-42.98759, 171.15354): The old track line starts traversing the mixed scrub and tussock band from about here.
  • TOP GULLY (-42.99183, 171.16489): Descend this gully to bypass the steep bit of ridge. The correct gully has a 'thumb' rock near the bottom. Traverse under the thumb back to the ridge line.
