Trip notes

From the club member's GPS log of the trip (26 December 2008), lightly edited, with people's names removed. Conditions may have changed since.

Day 3 of a 4-day Christmas trip, party of 2. Travelled up the true left of the Matakitaki and found the going much faster than on our last trip on the other side. The weather was even more cloudy, and totally clagged in when we reached the first tarn. Navigated by GPS to D'Urville Saddle and arrived exactly at the cairn. Took the 'standard' route down from Lake Thompson for a change: a much better route, mostly fast snow and later a nice smooth scree.
